Transcultural Design China

From the 19th to the 23rd of October 2009, L’Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique’s 5th year students will work with Shandong University of Art and Design 山东工艺美术学院 students on a project lead by the R&D Center of Seb-Supor.

Seb-Supor 苏泊尔 is a joint venture that was created in 2006. Founded in 1994, Supor is the leader of the cookware market in China and the third largest cookware company in the world. Its headquarters are in Hangzhou 杭州, in Zhejiang province 浙江省 near Shanghai. It owns six production sites and more than 7,000 employees worldwide.

All the 4th-year students started their internships in several design companies. 16 students are located in Shanghai and 3 in Beijing. [Read more →]

The Chinese campus of L’Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique is based on Qingdao University campus.

Qingdao University is a comprehensive university in Shandong Province, which was combined with the former Qingdao University, Shandong Textile Engineering Institute, Qingdao Medical College and Qingdao Teachers’ College in 1993. It comprises of 25 colleges and about 50000 students. [Read more →]

4th year students just arrived in Qingdao where they will study design for 2 years. They happen to be 20 this year which is more than last year (14 students). They come from various backgrounds: Product design, Interior design and Interactive design.

They will leave soon to Shanghai and Beijing where they will do a 5 month-internship in their field. They will then come back to Qingdao for 2 more semesters: one filled with numerous design projects with companies like Haier, SEB-Supor and one dedicated to their personal final project.

On Wednesday the 24th of June, the 4th year students of the Chinese programme of L’Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique celebrated the end of the semester.

In April, Wang Difei, the design director of Hisense R&D Center asked the thirteen 4th year students to find design solutions for Hisense domestic electrical appliances, television and electronic devices to expand its markets.

Antoine Persyn, a 4th year student in the China based Master degree programme of L’Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique, created this beautiful « Iboga » lamp for the Shanghai Ecodesign Fair in April 2009.  Made out of bamboo wood, this lamp is meant to help people feel better at home like a medication. On April 18, 2009 the 13 students enrolled in the curriculum offered by L’École de design Nantes Atlantique’s Chinese subsidiary seized the opportunity to showcase their projects during the international Ecodesign Fair 2009 held in Shanghai. [Read more →]

Between the 17th and 18th of April, the students will participate in the Eco Design Fair 2009 in Shanghai. They will present there their works on bamboo stems.

Eco Design Fair : Event meant to propose sustainalble products to Shanghai citizens, it gathers products from over 30 eco-conscious businesses and groups include organic clothing, home accessories, furniture, natural beauty products, stationary, toys, building materials, organic food products plus more information on developing a more sustainable lifestyle.
